ESMA graduation film “CORAIL”

Introduction

“CORAIL” is my final student work at ESMA. It is a 6min short designed and directed by an 8 members-team. 

The story is about an octopus named Kawa, who is very anxious about her surroundings, always hidden in her shell to feel protected. But Kawa loves to watch the distant stunning colorful coral reef from her home. So, when she finds a small colorful coral slowly losing its beautiful colors, she decides to take it back where it is from, hoping it would regain its colors. A surprising and doubtful adventure awaits Kawa, who never left home. Will she overcome her fears to reach her goal ? 

We wanted to create a poetic colorful adventure based on an underwater world with various environments. We wanted to tell the story of Kawa who can be related by so many people depending on how you look at it. Personally I think it is about finding a reason beyond ourselves to fight for something we care about.
